Seattle, Washington’s skyline served as the backdrop for Hyvion’s flight crews as drones took to the skies for the NCAA DII Sports Festival. More than 25 hours of live aerial coverage generated picturesque views of the iconic locations like the Space Needle and Chambers Bay Gold Course, the site of the 2015 U.S. Open.
The NCAA DII Sports Festival is an annual championship competition that celebrates the exceptional talents and achievements of student-athletes from various sports disciplines. The four day event concluded with crowning national champions in men’s and women's soccer, field hockey, volleyball, and cross country.

Hyvion’s flight team skillfully maneuvered live cross-country and soccer events, from the start until champions were crowned. Scenic views were also gathered of local landmarks such as the original Starbucks store, Pike Place Market and world renowned athletic venues where field hockey and volleyball competitions took place.
“Our ability to provide safe and cinematic aerial support for Olympic style events has become a few of our favorite events to fly.” Said Huffman, “We balanced many local regulations and airports in the surrounding communities, which made this a fun challenge for our team.”
Renton memorial stadium, which sits directly next to an airport, required FAA approval to conduct drone operations next to the airfield. While several other flight locations required approvals from city and federal authorities.
