Hyvion Takes Center Stage at Maker STEM Summit

Founder and CEO, Zach Huffman serves as Keynote Speaker for STEM Education Day event

DEARBORN, MI –  Hyvion, a drone service provider connecting leading brands with collaborative aerial storytellers, is proud to share that Founder and CEO Zach Huffman took center stage at the Henry Ford Museum for Innovation as the keynote speaker for STEM Education Day. The event was part of the fourth annual Wayne County RESA Maker-STEM Summit, which aimed to ignite the passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics among students and educators.

The Henry Ford Museum, a testament to Henry Ford’s pioneering spirit, provided an inspiring backdrop to Huffman’s speech. Drawing parallels between Henry Ford’s innovative legacy and the transformative power of drones, Huffman highlighted how technology has propelled industries forward and enabled new opportunities for growth and creativity. Just as Henry Ford revolutionized the automotive industry, drones have become game-changers, offering endless possibilities for exploration, storytelling, and education. Huffman’s address brought a fresh perspective to the intersection of the art and STEM fields.

“Technical disciplines fuel STEM education and provide a crucial launchpad for students to excel in the future,” said Huffman. “Unfortunately, scientific terminology and unrelatable use cases often hold students back from pursuing their interest in STEM and the endless opportunities it can lead to.”

Huffman emphasized the importance of understanding the full scope of STEM’s impact through the lens of artistic expression. By merging arts with STEM, students gain a perspective that allows them to grasp the true potential of scientific concepts in their everyday lives.

“Hyvion believes that by simplifying some of the complicated basics in the STEM field, we can help fuel creative thinking and ultimately inspire students’ journeys,”

“Hyvion believes that by simplifying some of the complicated basics in the STEM field, we can help fuel creative thinking and ultimately inspire students’ journeys,” said Huffman. “We can open a new door, one that allows students to discover the storytelling properties of an effective STEM curriculum.”

During the keynote address, Huffman engaged teachers through aviation-based exercises, encouraging them to explore the “why” behind STEM education. By demonstrating the real-world applications and impact of STEM concepts, Huffman showed how the study of these concepts can become interactive and enjoyable. This approach fosters a deeper understanding and engagement among students as they connect the dots between theory and practical applications.

To illustrate the power of storytelling in STEM education, Huffman utilized two pieces of aerial videography. These visuals showcase the awe-inspiring perspectives and narrative potential that can be unlocked through the creative use of technology. By demonstrating the impact of storytelling from above, Huffman encouraged educators to embrace innovative teaching methods that inspire students and make STEM education more relatable and accessible.
